FlipTheScript Project

Scripts to Flip
FlipTheScript was founded on the belief that we each can change narratives we hold about ourselves and others regarding health. These paradigms, and lenses, offer new ways to view nutrition, fitness, chronic conditions, and personal growth which seek to help you in your own health journeys

1
Health as progress, not perfection
Old mindset: My health isn’t perfect, so I must be failing
New mindset: I should celebrate any progress because health is a cumulative build over a lifetime
2
Prevention, instead of reaction

Old mindset: If it isn’t broken yet, don’t fix it
New mindset: I am making choices to invest in my health
3
Sustainable habits, instead of quick fixes
Old mindset: I should see fast results if I try this new diet, drug, etc.
New mindset: I am building a toolbox of skills to address my health. Consistency is key
4
Nutrition as fuel, not as punishment
Old mindset: I must diet because I haven’t been good about my health lately
New mindset: I am nourishing and treating my body with good food
5
Exercise as fluidity, not rigidity
Old mindset: I must follow a strict regimen to get the physique I want
New mindset: I can build a rhythm and routine that works best for my physical and mental health
6
Chronic conditions as multi-factored, not just lifestyle
Old mindset: Diabetes is self-inflicted. People with the disease are the only ones to be blamed
New mindset: Diabetes is deeply influenced by genetics, age, ethnicity, social determinants, and other medical conditions
7
Holistic care over symptom-management
Old mindset: Focus on treating symptoms and looking for results
New mindset: Focus on treating the whole person: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually
8
Compassion, not judgment
Old mindset: I judge myself and others for having certain conditions
New mindset: I accept myself and others and hope to improve our conditions
